How SoundChoice Works

For purchases of hearing aids, SoundChoice has a plan to fit almost every need and every budget. Patients can choose from a wide range of Convenient Monthly Payment Plans with the CareCredit credit card.

Patients complete a short credit application, which can be submitted by the practice via phone or online. Credit decisions are provided within minutes.

SoundChoice is a patient finance program available exclusively to the Starkey Group through CareCredit®, a part of GE Capital. As a SoundChoice provider you receive preferred pricing on CareCredit merchant fees as well as advanced coaching on how to fit more patients with recommended hearing aids.

Visit CareCredit.com for additional information.

Note: In order to minimize confusion your patients will only see the CareCredit brand in your office and on their monthly statements

Patient Payment Calculator

Cost remains the number one reason patients don't purchase hearing aids. CareCredit's Online Payment Calculator lets you present the cost of your recommendations as a low monthly payment so that patients can see how easy it is to fit hearing aids into their monthly budget.

Here's how to increase your hearing aid sales with SoundChoice:

  1. Display the FREE materials provided by CareCredit in your reception area and remind all patients that a low monthly payment plan is available.
  2. Before presenting your recommendation, access CareCredit's Online Payment Calculator at www.carecredit.com/payment_calculator or by clicking the calculator icon on your CareCredit desktop tool*.
  3. Enter the total cost of the recommended hearing aid or bundled package and click "Calculate and Show Plans."
  4. Print out the payment plan estimate and use it as a visual aid during your presentation to show patients how easily they can fit your recommendation into their monthly budget
*If you don't have the desktop tool you can easily download it at www.carecredit.com/desktop.
(You will need your merchant number.)

Van Vliet SoundAdvice CD

Dennis Van Vliet, Au.D, and Director of Professional Relations, Starkey, uses the Pulitzer Prize winning book titled Guns, Germs, and Steel, by noted author Jared Diamond, as a starting point for an informative discussion on how hearing professionals can create a "more fortunate" environment to foster greater practice success including:

  • Delegating ancillary tasks to focus on your expertise
  • Creating a plan to take your practice where you want it to go
  • Partnering with colleagues, consultants, and suppliers to gain knowledge and share best practices
  • Cultivating stronger relationships with patients
  • Maintaining a fiscally responsible practice

Van Vliet also provides practical advice on how hearing professionals can better manage their practices both financially and professionally in order to achieve their goals.

Freeman SoundAdvice CD

Barry Freeman, Ph.D. Senior Director of Education and Audiology for Starkey Laboratories, Inc., shares his five "building blocks" to creating a patient-centered care system. Starting from the very first patient contact, Dr. Freeman details why it's so important to develop a repeatable practice process that will engage patients and get them involved in improving their hearing health. Topics include:

  • Defining and communicating to patients what makes you unique
  • Marketing and delivering a brand that builds patient trust
  • Ensuring a professional experience with every patient contact
  • Evaluating patient lifestyles
  • Using assessment tools to make recommendations more effective

Dr. Freeman also discusses when to address price and offer payment options that will make it easier for patients to pay for recommended technology.
